Accrington Stanley Community Trust recently hosted an exhilarating couple of days of football as they welcomed local schools to compete in the Utilita Kids Cup and Girls Cup local finals at Stanley Sports Hub.
In the Kids Cup final, Barrow Primary School emerged victorious, displaying remarkable teamwork and skill to clinch the title. On the Girls Cup side, St. Augustine’s proved unstoppable, earning their place as champions with their fantastic play and determination.
Both schools have not only won local bragging rights but will also go on to represent Accrington Stanley in the regional finals. The next stage of the competition is set to take place once again at the Stanley Sports Hub in the new year.
The Utilita Kids and Girls Cup competitions are integral parts of the English Football League’s (EFL) grassroots initiatives. They provide a unique opportunity for young players to engage in competitive football while representing their local professional clubs. By progressing to the regional finals, Barrow Primary School and St. Augustine’s are now just a step away from potentially competing in the national finals, an experience that could be life-changing for these budding football stars.
Speaking about the event, Lee Walsh from the Trust said:
“It’s always fantastic to see the passion and energy that these young players bring to the pitch. We’re proud to support initiatives like the Utilita Kids and Girls Cups, which not only highlight their talent but also give them an incredible opportunity to represent Accrington Stanley at a regional and potentially national level.”
