Accrington Stanley Community Trust is proud to announce our Community Heroes for the 2024/25 football season. Recognising the dedication and hard work of our staff, volunteers, and participants is vital to the ongoing success of our charity’s positive impact throughout Hyndburn.

The EFL Community Hero campaign, in partnership with clubs and Club Community Organisations (CCOs), celebrates the everyday heroes who make a difference in our local communities.

We are thrilled to extend our congratulations and heartfelt thanks to Matthew Tattershall, Matthew Booth, and Tony Greenwood for their exceptional contributions.

Matthew Tattershall
Matthew has become a familiar and valued member of the Accrington Stanley Community Trust, playing a pivotal role in supporting our facility and maintenance operations. A lifelong Stanley fan, he began his journey as a volunteer in the club shop in the town centre before expanding his support to the Community Trust. Now, Matthew works alongside our facility staff, ensuring the building operates smoothly and remains a welcoming space for all.

Matt Booth
A true Red, Matt is a passionate supporter of the team, attending nearly every home match and traveling to away games. His dedication extends beyond his love for football, particularly in his unwavering support of our veteran programme. Matt has made a profound impact on the veterans’ community by organising activities, creating opportunities for connection, and fostering a safe and welcoming space for veterans to engage with others who share similar experiences.

Tony Greenwood
Tony is a well-known face at both the Club and the Trust. His invaluable support in establishing our Over 50s Extra Time Hub has given men aged 50 and over a chance to meet, enjoy a variety of games, and socialise over a cup of tea. Tony’s commitment to creating a friendly and inclusive environment for this group has had a lasting and positive impact.

Lee Walsh, Head of Sport at Accrington Stanley Community Trust, commented: “It’s fantastic to be able to recognise the incredible contributions of Matthew, Matt, and Tony. They embody the spirit of community and selflessness that we aim to foster at the Trust. Their dedication not only enhances our programmes but also makes a lasting impact on everyone they work with. We are incredibly proud to have them as part of the team and grateful for everything they do.”

We are deeply grateful to Matthew, Matt, and Tony for their continued efforts to make a difference in our community.
